Just found my grandfather's obituary. It says he was born August 2, 1858 in Springfield, IL, the eldest of 5 children, to James and Eliza Green, who immigrated from London, England. "With his parents and other members of the family he went to Jewell County, KS, driving oxen teams in 1871." His siblings were Emma (Glidden), Harry J, Charles, and Mary (Ankle). His father, James Green, died in Jewell Co. in Nov. 1879. George married Mattie Burch (or Birch) December 11, 1878. They had 8 children, of who my father, James Martin Green, was the eldest. George's first wife died June 11, 1920, and he married his second wife, Grace Evelyn Gould Burke, in Jamestown, KS, September 20, 1920. They moved to Boulder, CO, one year later. George died there July 3, 1949, and his body was transferred back to Jamestown for burial.

Anyone having any information about this family is urged to respond by email. I would be grateful.
