I searched for months and met deadends in looking for information about my step-uncles and aunt until my eyes jumped at seeing two posts in the Spry Family Forum by Jim Hicks.
My grandfather, Gordon Northrup, married a mail-order bride whose three children by a previous marriage carried the name of Spry. My oldest sister thought that step-grandma's name was Neville. The kids reportedly got along surprisingly well, but not so with their firey mom and stubborn dad. The marriage lasted a few years, then grandma left grandpa and went "somewhere" with her three.
My dad found his step sister and brothers -- Bea, Weldon, and Cecil -- when I was about ten, and I recall visiting them. I also met Bea a few times later but lost track of all of them.
I found reference to Weldon in Soc Sec deaths from California, so sent for his death certificate (File 83-071602 3600 03081). It has only the name "Neville" for his mother and Clyde Spry for the father. I found your post about Clyde, which also had the children's names, including Bea's married name of Spence.
That name led me to her Kansas death certificate (File 1909 -80-009370). This one gave Clyde Spry and Rebecca Marie Neville as parents. Beatrice Marie's birthplace: Oklahoma, Dec 17, 1907.
I have requested a search for the Northrup-Neville Wedding Cert. We still seek information about Cecil. The last we knew years ago, he was in Denver, CO. And we're curious about Earl, whose name we had never heard. We'd like to know Grandma Rebecca's husband's name and something about them. At least, we have established our link to Clyde Spry's family! Thanks to Jim for posting.
