I am new to this ancestor searching. I am searching for a

Charles G. Huge,

who, from what we can gather off of the photo of him on Feb 1, 1899 while on the ship U.S.S. Senator in the Spanish-American War, I have no clue where the heck to search or even where to begin.

I have his birthdate, death date, and name and thats it.

Is there some place I can go to search for his name and find some info on him in the military?

Of course I don't have any geneology software so I don't know where to refer to there either.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
