I own an orginal edition of Culter's "History of Kansas". I checked page 450 of the Lv. County chapter. The orginals were huge one volume books. Latter 3 reprints in the late 1900's were done in more manageable two volume size. However, I found the two initials of one male's surname different in the 1900's reprints. The online version contians numerous errors and OMISSIONS. I have not checked to see which edition the numerous typists used to do the online version. Anyway, S. A. Marshall was born in 1818, Boston, Mass., per my book. He came to Ks. via Maine, then Penn. He married Mary A. Reeder of Penn. By the way, my friend E.V.E. said there is a bio. for a Samuel A. Marshall in the following book: "They came to stay: Sherman County and family history" (or histories), published 1980, on page 254.
