Kessinger Family in Kansas, circa 1870

I have been researching an ancestor named John James Kessinger. I think he was born in Kansas (Norwich, Kingman County) around 1870. The place of his birth however, I have not substantiated, nor have I found anything else about him.

He had a son, Jesse James Kessinger, with Lillie Pearl Harvey, from Windfall, Tipton, Indiana, in 1891. Jesse was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, and, I believe, was raised by his grandparents, the Harveys - Miles Harvey & Cordelia Ann Calvert.

I have hit a dead end with John James and his ancestors. I am trying to connect him with one of the families that came to Kansas from Illinois, Missouri, or Arkansas.

Any help would be appreciated.
