Octagon Hotel, Valley Falls, Kansas

Interested in any information and a photo(If one exists) about the OCTAGON HOTEL, built in Valley Falls, Kansas. .

According to the Cutler History of Kansas(1883) - "hotel was commenced in 1858 by Dr. Lorans Northrup, but was not completed for some time. (Northrup was owner of the town pharmacy as well). The hotel was situated in the center of block 21, near the depot. The house was unique in design, octagon in form, built with the foundation and corners of stone, and the walls a mixture pf concrete and stone. The rooms were fanciful in design and all finished with black walnut and number about forty. The house was built as a residence, but was used as a hotel with Dr. Northrup as the proprietor."

According to the biography of my g-g grandfather, Abraham Rohrbach Hosler, he did considerable carpentry work over a period of time in the hotel.

Any facts about the building, life of the hotel, etc and those associated with it would be appreciated.

Thank you

Charles Hosler
