Following is the information on the Father and sibblings of Jacob McLucas:
THE MERIDEN LEDGER THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 1908
Samuel McLucas was born in Ohio, March 8, 1824 moved with his parents when 14 years old to Indiana, and was married Dec. 24, 1848 to Eliza Jern when they moved to Kansas in 1868. To this union twelve children were born four of which survive him, Dan, John, Jake and Grant. he died at the home of his son, John at Rock Creek, Kansas,March 23, 1908, aged 84 years and 14 days.
He was one of the early settlers to Kansas and his familiar face and kind words will be greatly missed in this community. During his sickness he bore his sufferings with great fortitude, never caring to cause any unnecessary trouble in his behalf. For the last two weeks he had been confined to his bed and seemed to realize the end was near.
He spoke to all the children with great feeling and gave them such advice as only a good man could give.
Funeral services were held from the U. B. Church at Meriden, Kansas,Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. T. D. Halbert officiating. Burial in the Meriden cemetery.
