Thank you. Your knowledge has saved me much work. The 1880 census says Cedar so I suppose they shortened North Cedar. Would the area be known also as Cedar Valley? What faith was the North Cedar church? My family was Brethern/German Baptist/Dunkard. An infant son is probably buried there in North Cedar cemetery. I am going to stretch my luck and ask, When was the area opened to homesteading? I wonder if Hartsocks and Dawsons (farmers and ministers) bought land or homesteaded. They were in KS from 1878 to 1892.
