Dan, Thanks for your advice. I e-mailed the Kansas Historical Society, and they responded. Hopefully, I'll soon have some information. I've also requested from a library in Ford County a free packet of information on Fort Dodge. Can't wait for it all to arrive. If I'm able to discover Merideth Widdoes' Civil War unit, I'll pursue pension and other records. I've never done that so that will be a learning experience. Thanks again. C. Thompson
