1982 Eartha Pugh WaKEENEY - Eartha Ellen Pugh, 91, died Friday, May 21, at hadley Regional Medical Center, Hays. She was born march 22, 1891, at Hays, the daughter of Franklin and Anna Weber Joy. She was a resident of Trego County since 1913 and had lived at WaKeeney the past 20 years. she attended Fort Hays Normal School for a teaching certificate and taught three years in rural schools. She married Elmer Gerard Pugh April 5, 1914, in Trego County; he died Jan. 28, 1953. Survivors include three sons, George, Engelewood, Colo., Cloyd, Wichita, and Eugene, Rossville; three dauthers, Mrs. Joy Zahn, Littleton, Colo., Lena Genera, Denver, and Fernetta Rhoden, WaKeeney; one brother, Milton Joy; Hays; one sister, Mrs. Stephana Barns, Dodge City; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hendricks Funeral Chapel, WaKeeney, the Rev. Exie Barber officiating; burial in the WaKeeney City Cemetery. Friends may call at Hendricks from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m until service time Monday. The family suggests memorials to the Long Term Care Unit of Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.
