Jeremy -- I grew up in Ellis, Kansas in the 1930s and early 40s.There were indeed many families there with their roots in Bukovina. I have a city directory for Ellis for 1931. Listed are the following : E.C. Aust (I remember his name as Ed). He sold insurance, was apparently a bachelor nd lived at the Erbert Hotel (razed this past year or so). I remember him as a man with one-eye or a badly damaged eye. Adam Aust. Wife was Wmma. No children in 1931. Living on farms near Ellis were these two families : John Aust, wife Mary, 7 E and 6 N of Ellis. Lou Aust, wife Dorothy. Child named Tracy Lee. 1 N and 8 E of Ellis. Berlin Rose, unmarried, worked at a garage. There were also a family named Rouse. I have no idea if they left any descendants in Ellis. --- Ken Notify Administrator about this message?
