The little boy that is referenced was born to Calvin and Hester Simpson Deneen. After the death of Hester on January 22, 1878 the child was adopted by Stephen and Elizabeth Simpson Hunter on January 21, 1879 at Brown County Kansas.(page 385) The minor child was born March 16, 1876. The adoption papers state the minor childs name will be Robert Simpson Hunter.
Robert(Robby) drown in a farm pond on July 4, 1890,when he and a group of boys went for a swim in John Barnum's farm pond located two miles east of Hiawatha, Kansas. Robert(Robby) was buried beside his adopted Mother Elizabeth Simpson Hunter at the Hiawatha Cemetery. (A stone is erected for each body.)
