Carl L. Giese Carl L. Giese, 84, formerly of Abilene, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at Geary County Community Hospital, Junction City. He was born March 2, 1921, at Abilene, the son of Fred and Lorena Giese. He was reared in the community of his birth and attended local schools. He graduated from Abilene High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He had been a resident of Valley View Professional Care Center for the last 12 years. He married Geneva Clark in 1958. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2005. Mr. Giese ran a service station and worked as a custodian at Farmers National Bank and the Duckwall-ALCO Warehouse before retiring. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Abilene. Survivors include a daughter, Cathi Stroda of Abilene; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Giese, Leland Giese and Duane Giese. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, with the Rev. Virgil Eubanks officiating. Burial will be in Abilene Cemetery.
