I would enjoy corresponding with someone who is related to the Hoover family or someone who knows about this area that we lived in Kansas. I was very young but have many good memories of our time living there. We rented our home from Ivin Hoover and played with their children. I remember spending so much time with this family and I loved being with them, and would like tell them how much I appreciated them.
I also wood like to learn more about the one room school house that i went to while we lived there. This small school was in the Moonlight District and I've been trying to find some information on this old school house. I am writing our family history and below is a small portion of my memories of Detroit Kansas.
*Our new home was an old, two story farm house out in the country in the Moonlight District, Detroit, Kansas. We rented from a farmer by the name of Ivin Hoover. He had a son Alvin Hoover. The mother was Mary. Oldest daughter named Marilyn. I can’t remember their other daughter’s name but Glenda comes to mind. Right next door was "grandpa & grandma" Hoover, Ivin’s parents. Next door on the left of us lived Henry and Theresa Zeramba and their 4 children. Next door to them were The Crawford family. Across the road from us lived Myron Hoover and his family. They also had a large farm.
