Below is a petition for guardianship that I copied.(the few words I couldn't make out I replaced with question marks)
C. L. Montgomery states that he is an uncle of Hattie A Thomas. Her mother was a Josephine Baily married to a Thomas. Most likely C. L. Montgomery is married to a Thomas or Baily. If anyone knows anything about any of these people, please let me know. I have been trying to find Thomas family.

In the matter of the guardianship of Hattie
A. Thomas. a minor under the age of 14 years
In the Probate Court of
Cloud Co. Kansas
application .
And now on the 15th day of November 1879
comes. P. L. Montgomery and represents to the
court. that Hattie A. Thomas. of said County and
State is a minor child under the age of 14 years
and of the age of 13 years. That her mother and
father are both dead. and that there is no
guardian for said minor, no guardian having
been appointed either by Testament or by the
court. and that it is necessary that some person be
appointed her said guardian that her person
and property be properly cared for.
Your petitioner further represents that the said
Hattie A. Thomas is wo prospect of any
property at this time, but that she has
as an heir of her mother. Josephine Baily
deceased, an interest ???? certain ????
now held by Theadore F. Baily under the Pre-
emplum Act of 1841, United States Statutes, and that
upon the completion of said ???? as required
by law she will be entitled to her share as such
heir ~ Your petitioner further represents
that he is an uncle of said minor. and has
a good home where he can provide for and care

pointed guardian of said minor
upon his filing a good and sufficient
Bond as required by law.
