I am looking for descendants of Bruce Wilson or his brother, Ralph Wilson, who married 1900-1905 in Cherokee Co., KS to two Clinton sisters -- Bertha Clinton and Goldie M. Clinton. The Theolet and Clinton families were next door neighbors in 1900. These girls were daughters of Willis Alfred L. Clinton (b. 1855 MO) and Mattie Ellen (b. 1854 MO).
Bruce Wilson and Bertha Clinton had Irwin E. Wilson, b. 1905) who married Marie Theolet or Thiollet, whose parents emigrated from France in 1896 (French spelling was Thiollet) and were in Cherokee County, KS. Their other son was Robert, b. 1907. Irwin Wilson was in the grocery business
Ralph Wilson and Goldie M. Clinton had Louise (b. 1905), Dale A. (b. 1907), and Thelma B. (b. 1909) in Cherokee Co., KS.
I am seeking contact with members of the current generation of this family. They descend from Willis Alfred James Clinton (1806 TN - abt 1865 MO) and Mary (Polly) Brown (1807 KY - 1892 MO). They married in Christian County, KY in 1829 and had two sons there: James Clinton (b. 1832 KY) and Willis Robert Clinton (b. 1837 KY). The family moved to Camden County, MO about 1838. In 1839 they took a motherless infant into their home to rear -- Harriet Lee Clinton, daughter of Willis Alfred Clinton's brother, Bennett Jackson Clinton.
After his first young wife, Martha, died in Camden County, MO, James Clinton married Nancy Emmaline Reed and had two children: Willis Alfred L. Clinton (1855 Vernon Co. MO - 1937 KS); and Martha A. Clinton (b. 1858 Vernon Co., MO). Willis Alfred L. Clinton married Samantha Mattie Ellen. they moved to Columbus (Cherokee Co.), KS and had Bertha (Wilson), Goldie (Wilson), and Josie. Bertha and Goldie married brothers, Bruce and Ralph Wilson, and stayed in Cherokee Co., KS. Bertha had two sons -- Irwin E. Wilson (1905) and Robert Wilson (1907). Goldie and Ralph Wilson had Louise (1905), Dale A. (1907), and Thelma B. (1909) in Cherokee Co., KS.
Willis Robert Clinton married Eliza Jane Reed (sister of Nancy Emmaline Reed, his brother's wife). They had four children: Susan Harriet Ann Clinton (1854) James Alfred Clinton (1856); John Calvin Clinton (1858); and Willis Pemberton Clinton. Susan Harriet Ann Clinton married James Perry Archer and moved to Cherokee Co., KS. They had the following children there: Nellie Centennial (1876), Alga Maude (1878); Louisa (1880); James Baxter (1883); Lida (1890); and another child before 1910 who died. At this point I don't know anything about the children of the other 3 children born to Willis Robert Clinton.
It is thought both James Clinton and Willis Robert Clinton died in the Civil War while living in Vernon County in 1862, leaving Eliza and Nancy Reed widows with children.
Willis Alfred James Clinton, their father, died about 1865 in Vernon County, but their mother, Mary (Polly) Brown survived until 1892.
I have more information about both the Clintons and the Browns to share with descendants of this couple -- can take both Brown and Clinton families back to 1770s.
