Pardon the delay in response. However, from the information available to me, it appears that John B. McCann was a son of William McCann, Jr., and his wife Phoebe (Bebout) McCann. The situation is slightly confused because the Montgomery County Census Taker in 1860 shows him as being born in Illinois. However, the Montgomery County Censuses in 1850 and 1860 have other errors, so this one can probably be disregarded. He most probably was born in Rush County, IN, as were most of his siblings. John's brothers and sisters were: Elizabeth; Sarah, who married a West; Martha; Phoebe, who married John M. Hampton; Hannah, who married a Brown; Oliver P. (not to be confused with another Oliver P. buried in McLennan Co, TX); Willis; Leah, my great grandmother who married first Samuel Boone Brockman and after his death John P. Wilson, and who moved with Mr. Wilson to Chautauqua County, KS, ca. 1876; Margaret; Mary, who married William Baker; and Morgan. John married Lydia June Scott in Bond County, IL. Hope this helps. I have some information on the generations previous to these. Paul R. Brockman Notify Administrator about this message?
