Karen,
I am so glad to finally find someone related
to me on the Vandeveer side.
My grandfather William Henry and his brother
Lon(Alonzo) left Kansas driving a herd of horses coming into Okla. My grandfather never
knew what happened to his youngest brother
John. He said after his parents died that
an old German took them in and worked them
in the fields all day and had to take care
of a baby at night. So he decided to leave.
He was around 14 years old. He never spoke
of any thing about his youth.
