ELGIE LORN DICKINSON
Mr. Elgie Lorn Dickinson, 67, of Moran, Kansas was born March 4, 1907 to Chester and Minnie Vandeveer Dickinson at Bayard, Kansas. He passed away May 26, 1974 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was married at Uniontown, Kansas on March 27 [no year] to Jessie Jefferis [sic?].
Mr. Dickinson was a steam fitter and civil service worker until his retirement. He was a member of the LaHarpe V.F.W. and the M.K.T. Rod and Gun Club.
He served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific.
Elgie is survived by his wife Jessie of the home, one brother, Earl Dickinson of Fort Collins, Colorado; three sisters Mrs. Don (Cecile) Markley, Iola, Kansas; Mrs. Gene (Willa) Davis, Loveland, Colorado; and Mrs. Owen (Ocie) Adams, Hamilton, Missouri, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday May 29, 1974 at the Ralston-Hutton Chapel with the Rev. Ira Wiley officiating. Mrs. Ira Wiley sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Frank Russell accompanying. Casket bearers were Wayne Caler, Alan Nutz, Frank Boles, Louis Bragg, Charles LaRue, and William Burche. Interment was in the Moran Cemetery with arrangements by Ralston-Hutton.
