I WOULD STILL LIKE TO FIND MORE INFORMATION ON JOEL L. LANDRETH AND HIS FAMILY OF HUMBOLDT/HUMBOLT, KS
HIS WIFE NANCY SCEARCY LANDRETH WENT TO WILSON COUNTY AFTER HIS DEATH, ALONG WITH TWO LITTLE GIRLS, IN FEBRUARY OF 1872.
THERE WERE 10 CHILDREN IN THIS FAMILY LISTED IN 1870 ALLEN CO. CENSUS. THE FAMILY CAME FROM SIGOURNEY, IOWA WHERE JOEL WAS A STONEMASON, AND BAPTIST MINISTER. THE SON, JOHN
CHARLES LANDRETH, 1848-1935, WAS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER AND IS BURIED WITH HIS 2ND WIFE IN CANEY, KS. HIS DAUGHTER WAS MAUDE MYRTLE LANDRETH BAUMGARDNER,1875-1956, AND MY PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER WHO MOVED FROM KANSAS TO COLORADO AND IS BURIED AT OURAY, COLO. THE GIRLS OF JOEL AND NANCY ALL ENDED UP IN ESCONDIDO, CA AND THAT AREA. I HAVE MUCH INFORMATION ON THEM . I NEVER HAVE LOCATED THE GRAVES OF JOEL AND HIS TWO LITTLE DAUGHTERS HAVE NEVER BEEN FOUND BY ME, BUT THEY DIED OF SMALLPOX AND IN MANY AREAS, THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED IN LOCAL CEMETERIES. SUPPOSEDLY JOEL ALSO OWNED THE STONE QUARRY IN HUMBOLDT. THE LANDRETH HOTEL IN HUMBOLT WAS HIS FAMILY HOME, HOUSING MANY WORKERS AND OTHERS. IT BURNED DOWN LATER. IF THERE ARE ANY RECORDS OF THE BURIALS OF THE LANDRETH FAMILIES, I WOULD LIKE THEM.
NANCY LANDRETH MARRIED INTO THE MAYES FAMILY IN WILSON, CO AND I ALSO HAVE NEVER LEARNED IF SHE WENT ON TO TEXAS AND CALIF. AFTER HIS DEATH OR WHAT. PLEASE LET ME HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE ANY RECORDS OR IDEAS WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS FAMILY.. BONNIE MARTIN, THE FAMILY LIMB LINES LADY, OF GOODMAN, MO
