Looking for Kruse family info. Friedrick "Fritz" Kruse & family (Iowa)
New to all of this.I'm currently researching my Kruse ancestors who came to
America in 1872.More specifically I'm looking for info on Friedrick
(Fritz) Kruse [b.21 Oct. 1839 in Pommern Germany, d. 7 Feb. 1917 in
Guttenburg, IA], His wife Caroline Sophia Brunstein [b.22 Feb. 1840 in Wieck
Germany, d.5 June 1905 in Guttenburg, IA], Fritz's father Charles Kruse
[b.Abt 1813 in Germany, d. Between 1885 & 1895 presumably in Clayton County
Iowa] and Charles wife Mary [b.Abt 1813 in Germany, d. between 1880 & 1885
presumably in Clayton County Iowa].They left Germany from Hamburg-haure
for New York on 5 June 1872 aboard the ship S.S. Holsatia with Fritz &
Sophia's sons Fred Jr. (13 years), Johann [John years] (2) and Herman (2
months). They first settled near Garnavillo, Clayton County, Iowa and later
moved to a farm near Elkport IA.In 1900 Fritz & Sophia moved to the
Guttenburg IA area.Fritz's sister Mary Kruse [b.Abt 1837] also settled in
Iowa, although I'm not sure if she came over at the same time.I'm also not
positive about the date of Charles & Mary's Emigration.
If anyone has any info about these Kruse's I'd appreciate sharing.I'm
especially trying to find more info about Charles & his wife Mary (like more
specific death dates).
I do know that Fritz served his country (Prussia?) in 3 conflicts.
The German-Danish War of 1863-1864
The Seven Weeks War (against Austria) in 1866
The Franco-Prussian (Franco-German) War 1870-1871 in which he was awarded a
medal of some kind.
Any info is greatly appreciated.Sorry if I went on a bit to long.Glad to
share my info with anyone who can use it as well.
Thanks,
Brian
