Archie & Alberta,
Isn't this rather funny?! We were corresponding already and I didn't realize it. I received copies of original documents from our mutual relatives in California, Rich & Carol S. It is a genealogy written by Robert Kennedy Krout,Sr. In it he says, "Michael Krout and Catherine Crotwell, his wife, were born in the British Colony of South Carolina. dates of birth and marriage unknown. Michael Krout died in Montgomery County, Indiana March 15th, A.D.1830: and his wife Catherine Krout died in the same County and State, May 25th, A.D.1854."
From this I am led to believe that her maiden name was Crotwell. He doesn't say that was the spelling of their German name. He continues, "Jacob Krout, son of Michael Krout and Catherine Crotwell Krout, was born in Lexington District, South Carolina February 15th, A.D. 1796: and died in the town of Clarinda,Page County, Iowa, December 6th A.D. 1872, at the hour of 6 p.m."
I find this all very interesting. I hope this is helpful to you. Thank you so much for the wonderful package of information you sent. My computer is still down so I am using my husbands but am frustrated because all of my files are on the other computer and I can't get to them to look at my other information. Sincerely,
P.S. I was having so much trouble with my server I have changed my e-mail address to firstname.lastname@example.org
