Louis (Ludwig) Kromm was my reat-grandfather. He immigrated to the U.S. from Darmstadt, Germany, in 1870, and married Johanna Hummel, whom he apparently met on the boat. He farmed in the Elmhurst-Maspeth area of Queens until the 1920s when he retired to a small farm near Westbrook, Connecticut, where his daughter Laura and her husband Charles Clark lived. My grandfather was Henry Kromm (1884-1957) who married Charlotte Kleinschmidt (1888-1986).
