Hi! Most of the following is recorded at the Douglas County History Research Center:

Hattie is the daughter of Alois Kroll who moved to the states from Austria. I don't know all the details, but I have quite a few as I am a direct decedent of his brother, Joseph, who bought land adjacent to him in Parker, Colorado in an area called Happy Canyon (near Castle Rock). Alois probably lived for a short stint in Pittsburgh, PA just like his brother, but being from a mountainous area of Austria, they were accustomed to the mining life and moved out to work in the Leadville mines of Colorado.

Alois "Louis" Kroll married a German girl named Mary Engler 7 May 1887 according to the marriage record.

They appear on Sheet 15 of the Twelfth Census of the United States for Parker Precinct No. 1, Douglas Co., CO with four children:
NOTE: Censuses are often inaccurate!
William, Born June 1872
Katie, Born Feb 1890
Hattie, Born Jan 1893
Mary, Born Jan 1893

Here's a news clip marking the birth of Hattie and Mary:

Castle Rock Journal - 1 Feb 1893, p.4:
BORN, - In Happy Canon, Sunday,
January 22nd, To Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kroll,
twin girls.

There is a book called OUR HERITAGE: People of Douglas County that covers Joseph's side told by Joseph's only daughter that mentions that Joseph comes from Tyrol (aka, Tirol), Austria. I haven't had any luck finding a ship they came in on, if they came together, or any certain matches in Austria. However, I have found a couple businesses with the Kroll name spelled with the umlaut (two dots over the "o") like Kröll and a DJ from the area with the same spelling variation. I've since started to use the umlaut and am pronouncing my name a bit differently. I've collected several photos that you may be interested in. I'll be making a collection for them online soon.

Record-Journal – 15 Sep 1911, p. 1.
Ladies’ Nail Driving contest, Augusta Sholtz, 1st; Hattie Kroll, 2nd.

Castle Rock Journal – 5 Jul 1912, p. 5.
Louis Kroll and family came up from Sedalia way on Thursday to help celebrate Independence Day.
Joseph Kroll and family were up from Sedalia helping celebrate the Fourth at Castle Rock.

Stay in contact with me I'll make up something nice in the future. Also, I'd like to see hear or see what other info you have.
