The names of all the Krohns are very familiar to me. Swen (Swan) N Krohn had a sister called Emma, and she was my grandfather´s mother. Swan emigrated 1881. He was born Svante Krohn. Seven siblings followed, Sigrid (born 1864), Nils (born 1866),Gustav (born 1872), Johan/John (born 1873), Matilda (born 1875), Brynolf (born 1876) and Amalia (born 1878).
Their parents were a)Nils Svensson Krohn, born 1839, died 1918. He was a soldier until 1883 but also a blacksmith with his own workshop and employees. He got the name Krohn when he signed up as a soldier. Swedish soldiers usually got new, short names, typically "soldier´s names) like Krohn, Stark, Modig, Rask etc, and b) Ingri Trulsdotter (1841-1884, died in TB). They had 14 children, 4 died as infants, 8 emigrated and two (Anna born 1862 and Emma born 1870) stayed in Sweden. I have found Ancestors back to 1720 in Skåne and Småland. You are very welcome to reply. I live in Kalmar, Sweden.
