Krekel family from Berghausen
The Krekel family emigrated from Langenfeld-Berghausen to the US in 1832 on the ship Isabella from Bremen to New York.
The following family members were listed:
Franz KREKEL, age 49 years
Catharina KREKEL, age 55 years
Gottfried KREKEL, age 24 years
Arnold (Arnhold) KREKEL, age 18 years
Franz KREKEL, age 14 years
Maria Catharina KREKEL, age 10 years
Nicolaus KREKEL, age 7 years
Maria Margaretha KREKEL, age 19 years
The parents, Franz KREKEL and Catharina KREKEL (maiden name SCHUMACHER) were married in Monheim, St. Gereon church, in 1808. In the same year the son Gottfried was born. Catharina SCHUMACHER, was bapt. on 2 Sept. 1777 in Richrath (today Langenfeld-Richrath), she was the daughter of Johann Wilhelm SCHUMACHER and Anna Maria GIERLICHS.
Franz KREKEL (sometimes also appearing as Franziskus Leonardus KREKEL) was the son of Johann Peter KREKEL and Maria Catharina BRAUER. I could find no further informations about them. The surname KREKEL is sometimes also written as KRECKEL or KREICKEL.
It seems, that the Krekel family lived at first in Garath (that is today part of the city Duesseldorf) and later in Berghausen (today Langenfeld-Berghausen). Langenfeld is situated halfway between Cologne and Duesseldorf in North Rhine - Westphalia, Germany.
