New name, no info...well, let me be the first to post.
My great grandmother was Josephine Kowalkowski.I have four sources of information for her.
1. Her husband's death certificate: He was Anthony Grocicki, born in Poland on June 13, 1865 and died August 17, 1943 in Schenectady, NY.Josephine was the individual providing the information on the death certificate. It lists her maiden name as Kowalkowski.
2. Josephine's death certificate: source was her daughter.Josephine was born September 17, 1871 in Germany and died August 14, 1945 in Schenectady, NY.This source lists her last name as Grocicki (known as Miller).
3. An old two page note handwritten in pen I found in an old chest 25 years ago...I don't know the source.Note 1 reads (spelling as in original):
Father Anthony Gorcicki, born in Poland and come to the United States when he was 20 years old.He lived and worked in West ConshockenPa.He married at 22.They went back to Poland for a few years, than returned to the United States and lived in West Conshocken Pa. til about 1902 or 1903 than moved to Schenectady.Mother Josephine Kwiatkowska born in Germany and come to the United States when she was 16 years old and was married when she was 18 years old.If you quit school before 1908 there is no record of it at Educational Bldg.
Note 2 reads:
Sophia born =
Anthony born = 1895 - 1896 (-1896 written in pencil)
Eva born = 1897
Edward born = 1899
Eva was about 5 or 6 years old when we moved to Schenectady
If you quit school before 1908 there wont be no record of it at the Educational Buldg.
4. Death certificate for Sophia mentioned in the above note: Sophia was born February 2, 1894 in Pennsylvania and died June 8, 1963 in Schenectady, NY. It lists father Anthony Miller, mother Josephine Flowers.
If anybody has any information on these people I would love to talk with you!Sophia was my grandmother.
