Good Evening Yannick,
So good to hear from you......happy you replied.....
My grandfather it is said came from Pest, and if the person I found on the Ellis Island passenger list is my grandfather, then his port of departure was Antwerp Belgium........but no one knows for sure his place of residency....it is very possible he came here on the Friedland on January 25, 1896.........my grandmother I have just been told was named Goldstein......which most likely was changed when she came here........they came to the states and lived in Chicago and my g-grandpa was a doctor........and her brother was a mayor of some sort in Hungary.......it was said they came from Buda, but no one seems to really know the answers.......one day I may find them........
My father says the original spelling of our name was "Kovach".........
Would love to hear from you again......feel free to write.......
Pam
