My wife's grand fathers name was Kottwitz before he changed it to Kotwitz when he came from Zezenow, German Pomerania in 1888 to America. It was Germany prior to 1945 when it reverted back to Poland and the name of the town became Cecenowo. It is small and can be found Southwest of GDansk. As it was explained to me once the name of Kattowitz is in german the spelling for The Polish town of the south of Poland; Kattowice. So this could be the origen of the name. Not so German after all. Do you know anything about the people and the name? Sincerely David Van Hoorn
