The Korn family history book, "Kernels of Korn," was written by Sophie's granddaughter, Hulda Cline Wilbert, in 1982. It contains a full chapter on Sophie. She was born April 18, 1849, in New Braunfels, Texas. Around 1854 the Korn family moved to San Antonio, where Sophie's father, Louis Jacob Korn, owned a candy shop. In 1860 they moved to Mason County, Texas, near Castell. They moved back to San Antonio in 1870 or 1871. Sophie met her husband, August Wennmohs Cline, at the Menger Hotel, where she was working. Before that, Cline had been in New Mexico with Kit Carson. They were married July 5, 1873 and lived in Cline, Texas (also known as Turkey Creek or Wallace). Sophie died on August 16, 1927, and was buried in San Antonio.

I don't have much information about Indian captives in New Mexico. However, Sophie's younger stepbrother, Adolph Korn, was captured in Texas in 1870 and spent three years with the Comanches.
