Questions on meaning of Medals

Could someone tell me what needed to be done to earn these medals? These are the ones my Dad recieved while in the Military. I'm aware of the Purple Heart, but not sure on the others. This is shown on the DD-215

Would also like to know what it means by 'Most Significant Duty Assignment' means. It shows the City, State it was made.

Combat Infantry Badge
Purple Heart
Good Conduct medal
Distinguished Unit Emblem with First Oak Leaf Cluster
Army Of Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp
Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars
United Nations Service Medal
Republic Of Korea
Presidential Unit Citation Badge
Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar
Korea 28 November 1950.

Thank You In Advance,
Teri
