On July 1 1950' The eigth army air lifted two reinforced rifle companies fron the 24th Division to Pusan,on that same day the first members of "Task Force Smith" consisting of the 1st Battalion,21st Infntry Regiment.and 130 infantryman (19th Infantry ??????)augmented by antitank teans...the next day they were joined by Weapons support elements, on July 3rd 1950 they took up positions at the Ansong River bridges in Pyongtaet-Ansong Area on the 4th they moved to Osan this is where the first battle of the war was fought.they engaged the N.K. on July 5, T34 tank's followed by 4000 N.K. troops, fought for seven /eight hrs, T.F. Smith was surrounded,Abandoning their heavy weapons, what was left of T.F.Smith fought their way through enemy lines & withdrew to Chonan ,where they joined up with the 34th Infantry Regiment.... I was in the 24th,19th Inf. Check Borders Books Korean War section ... "The Forgotten War" and other books, good luck,
