I know little to nothing about my mother's Korean background and I want to find my extended family if possible and if any exist. My mother's name is Sueng Cha Yi and she married my father approximately 1965 while he was stationed in South Korea and he brought her to the states. Sueng cha (approximately 67yrs old) says her mother left her after she was born and her mother is of japanese decent. Her father Korean and mother Japanese married at the age of 15, Sueng Cha was raised in a small village community with an uncle, a grandfather, no mention of a grandmother. She believes she has a brother, and her mother remarried later after leaving the family so she knows she may have half brothers and sisters. Her origins and memories of Korea are traveling with her grandfather from the North to the South selling vegetables and kimchee. She mentions being "in the military" (?) and she has a tattoo on her inner left arm, of 3 sequential dots. I've asked what that means and she says it is for identification? I have no idea what this means?
I want so badly to know where I come from in Korea - I have some photos posted on MySpace at www.myspace.com/studiokayio and I have found many vintage older photos of what may be family. Please visit my website to see the photos or if you have any information or recommendations please post.
THANK YOU!
