Hi all,
My name is Kristina. I am attempting to search for my mother's family. My mother, CHOI, KYUNG SOON, was born in Seoul Korea. From what her adoption papers say her date of birth is March 28, 1948 which makes her 64 as of this date. Unfortunately she does not have a birth certificate to back this information. Like many children born in Korea in the 40's my mother was half white/American (HER MOTHER-KOREAN AND HER FATHER-WHITE/AMERICAN). She was adopted into and American military family when she was around 11 give or take so only bits and pieces of her childhood remain; I will tell what I know.. She had one sibling; a little brother maybe 2/3 years younger. His name I believe is CHOI, TONG SIK (my apologies on incorrect spelling). He was 100% Korean/Asian. Her mother, she believes, was from a somewhat wealthy/middle class Korean family. Her memories of this is visiting her grandmother (my great grandmother) and their home. From her memory of the home, they were far from poor. My mother also feels that she was rejected by her grandmother because she (my mother) was half white. Affection was always given to her brother but not her. My mother believes that she was brought up christian because she remembers going to church. She Also remembers her mother referring to Adam and Eve as the king and queen. Although my mother does not know/remember her mom's name she believes that it could be EVE (IBEU). She only remembers a relation of the name to a Queen.. Eve. My mothers father was in the military of some sort. She says the US military, but there is no definite answer to that because her only memories of him is that he wore a military uniform and had carrot orange/red hair. He would visit every so often leaving my mother a kiss on the forehead. Around the age of 11 (give or take) my mother's house in Korea burnt down via mosquito net. From my understanding, they had nothing left. Not too long after my mother was given up for adoption. From her knowledge her brother remained with their mother. Because My mother had such poor health at the time she was adopted through the black market which makes finding any information very difficult. She has searched several times throughout her life to try to find her Korean family and now I am attempting to continue that search in addition to her father's side. couple of side notes; My mother thinks her name could also have been Kim, Kyung Soon because she remembers hearing that name.. However, Her adopted name is Kim and she is also 64. Any help/advice/info would be great!! Thanks for your time.
