There was great sorrow in Leon when word was received last Saturday afternoon that MRS. PHIL F. KOPP had passed away at her home at Ft. Madison, although it had been known for several days that she was in a critical condition, her brother, DR. F.A. BOWMAN and wife having been called to Ft. Madison last Wednesday. MRS. KOPP had been in poor health for several years, and recently spent several weeks in Leon, and was also in a hospital at Des Moines and when she left Leon a couple of weeks ago, was considerably improved. MRS. KOPP resided in this city for a number of years, and was a favorite with everyone, and an active member of the P.E.O. Society of this city. She was a devoted wife and affectionate mother, and the heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved husband and children, and other relatives.

MARY ETHEL, daughter of SAMUEL and EMMA BOWMAN, was born in Davis city, Iowa, October 5, l877, and died in Ft. Madison, Iowa, June 28, l924, at the age of 46 years, 8 months and 2l days. Her early girlhood was spent on a farm near Davis City. She attended the Davis City schools and graduated from the Leon High School and later taught in the Leon schools. On December 5, l906, she was married to PHILLIP F. KOPP. To this union were born two children, MARGHERITA and MAX. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her loss, three brothers, WILL L., and DWIGHT BOWMAN, of Omaha, Neb., and DR. FRED A. BOWMAN, of Leon, and three sisters, MRS. WILL A. BROWN, of Lincoln, Neb., MRS. FRANK GRIMES, of Denison, Iowa, and MRS. T.S. DUFF, of Cainsville, Mo. She united with the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Neb. She was also a member of the P.E.O. and Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held at the home of her brother, DR. FRED A. BOWMAN, in Leon, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.E. Habliston, Pastor of the Leon M.E. Church. Interment was at her request, in the Leon Cemetery.
