ONE LAST STAB AT THIS

With a lot of additional information since my last attempt, I’m going to take one more stab at finding my family from Columbiana County, Ohio.

Naomi's family name has been spelled so many different ways, that it's anyone's guess which spelling is correct. Her father's name spelled COONSE in the marriage records for Columbiana County, Ohio. On the 1850 census, the name is spelled KUNTZ. I haven’t been able to find him on the 1860 census, but by the time 1870 census was taken, he is living in Jackson Township, Sullivan County, Indiana with his second wife Elizabeth, and his name is spelled Koonse. The census shows Philip is 66 years old, born in Pennsylvania. Elizabeth is 45 years old, born in Ohio.

Naomi's name has been spelled KOONTZ and KOUNTZ in various records and newspaper articles in Loup City, Nebraska. Articles written while she was alive spell her name KOUNTZ, but her obit spells it KOONTZ. However, her sister Sarah and her brother Jeremiah both spelled their name KOONSE.

m2. 23 October 1861 Daniel Norris in Patricksburg, Owen County, IN.
Daniel died April 26, 1865, near Memphis, TN on board the steamer Sultana on the Mississippi River in the explosion and disaster of said vessel.

m3. 04 March 1867 Simpson Nicholas Criss in Patricksburg, Owen County, IN.
