Obituary of Christine K. Swicegood
Christine Koontz Swicegood, 82, of South N.C. Highway 150, passed away Tuesday morning, March 17, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Howard Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery.
Christine was born in Davidson County on Aug. 2, 1926, to Charles Franklin Koontz and Clara Lennie Shoaf Koontz. She was a retired senior commercial loan teller with First Union Bank. A lifetime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she served in numerous positions, she was very active in the women's group and was a former organist. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lorena K. Williams and Mary A. Koontz; and one brother, Clinton F. Koontz.
Surviving are her husband, Carson Artis Swicegood of the home; sons David Carson Swicegood of Galax, Va., and Michael Thomas Swicegood and his wife, Wanda Leigh Leonard Swicegood, of Lexington; one granddaughter, Hannah Leann Swicegood; and one brother, Elbert Koontz of Lexington.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Thursday in Pless Hall at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
