I'm Diana (Deena) Koonce Gentle -- very new to the search for family information. Our Koonce line has been traced up to an Elijah Willis Koonce who was born in Sumner County (I understand is now called Wilson County) Tennessee. We believe his father was named Elijah. I'm wondering if that could be the Elijah who is listed as son of Michael Koonce, descended from George Cunitz/Conis? Would the Alice Koonce records you refer to indicate a birth/death for Elijah Koonce? And a marriage which would list his children?

We believe Elijah's wife may have been a full blood Cherokee or possibly another indian tribe. But have absolutely NO record of her name or origin. Would very much like to identify this woman, also.

Deena Koonce Gentle
