Claudia,

My 3rd greatgrandfather, John Henry Koonce, Sr. (b. 1826) died and is burried in Evansville, IN. Now, these John's get confusing. This John Henry, Sr. (b. 1826) had a son John Henry, Jr. (b. 1855). The son of Isasc Koonce was John Henry, Sr. (Jack) Koonce (b. 1839), he also had a son John Henry Jr. (b. 1870).
I found the name in the book, "BOND CO. IL SOLDIERS 1831-1899" by Nelda Neer Anthony Pages 69 & 71. On 25 June 1861 he is listed as "Re-enlist as Vet." On 1 Jan 1864 he tr. to Co E 42 ILL. at Greenville. Isaac's son was married on 10 Mar. 1864 in St. Louis, MO. Thanks for your reply, John P. Koonce
