GEORGE ADAM and DAVID LUTHER KOON census pages
Would like to compare notes with anyone who has found, or wants to find, census pages for the families of GEORGE ADAM KOON III or his son DAVID LUTHER KOON. I believe I have found entries for this family for every census from 1800 through 1930 (except for 1810). Goal would be to resolve some of the details found in some of these records.
For example, who is Eliza Ann (from 1850 census for George Adam), wife?? daughter?? Where did she go?? Could she be mother to Obidiah and David? There does not seem to be a matching female child in the 1840 census. That would add some weight to the idea of a young wife. He needs a wife because both Obidiah and David will be born within the following 6 years.
Who are the Shumer family (Udelia, Zacharah, Archie -- spelling questionable) that seem to be living with the Koons that year? Does that record really say "convict" for Archie?
Finally, family lore has said that George Adam III was a shoemaker. All censuses I have found refer to him as a farmer except in 1870 when he was referred to as a laborer. Does anyone know where the shoemaker issue came from?
Please write me if you would like to go into any of these issues.Paul
