Miss Mary Staples Is Bride Of Henry Koob - Ceremony In Avoca Catholic Church Is Followed By Reception At Staples Home - The wedding of Miss Mary Staples and Henry M. Koob was solemnized at St. Rose of Lima church in Avoca last Thursday morning. Mis Loretta Scheuring of Iona played the wedding march. Rev. Fr. Kearney read the nuptial mass, and the Iona Catholic choir sang the nuptial music.

Miss Clara Galles, of Sioux Falls, S.D., a cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid, and Joseph Koob, a brother of the bridegoom, was best man.

Miss Staples was attired in a gown of royal blue velvet trimmed with rhinestones, with silver slippers and matching accessories. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas. Miss Galles wore black velvet with black accessories, and a bouquet of red roses and baby's breath.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents east of this city, and at noon a delicious three-course dinner was served to about seventy-five relatives and friends of the two families. Misses Cody Mohlstad and Bernice Johnson assisted with the serving.

Mr. and Mrs. Koob left that evening for a motor trip that will include the twin cities and points in the northern part of the state. On their return they will live, for a time, with his parents near Iona, and about January first they expect to begin housekeeping on a farm near Avoca.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Staples, and the date, November 7, now has added significance to them. It was twenty-nine years ago on that date that they exchanged their own marriage vows. Their daughter, the bride, is a product of Murray county. She attended the schools of this county and the high school at Des Moines, Iowa, from which she graduated. She is also a graduate of the Des Moines Commercial College. Recently she has been employed as a stenographer in the court house here.

Mr. Koob is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koob, Sr., of near Iona. He attended the St. Columba school at Iona, and since his graduation has assisted his father on the farm.

Out-of-town guests who attended the wedding were John Schuster, Dell Rapids, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Arens and daughters, Phyllis and Joyce, Martina Apple and Frank Hunder, all of Wheaton, Minn.; Mrs. Frank McKenny and daughter, Barbara Jean, of Wayzata, Vincent Apple of Lismore; Mr. and Mrs. D.J. McCarville, Balaton.

The Herald joins with the many friends of this estimable young couple in extending them best wished for a happy married life. (1935)
