Dear mailing-list,
I am living at Essen, in the Western part of Germany; on a cemetery situated near my flat I found a tombstone of "ancient appearance". A closer look told me that a girl named Marta Konopinska, daughter of Jan Konopinski, is buried there since 1917. She was born in 1902. Evidently, no other member of her family was buried in the grave, not even her parents.
I would like to know what did happen to the family. Did they emigrate? Why no other relative of Marta Konopinska is buried there? On the front of the tombstone one can read "Familie Jan Konopinski" which in my opinion means that the whole family was intended to find its final resting-place there. But they did not.
If somebody could help me, I would be very glad.
Thank you.
With best wishes to you all,
Ute Overhage
