Godfrey Kollauf, St. Charles, Ill., 1936 bio

From St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, 25 June 1936

The paper did a series on old citizens of St. Charles. This is the bio for Godfrey Kollauf, written by U.S. Elliott:

Godfrey Kollauf I have known ever since he came to St. Charles from Bohemia with his parents, when Godfrey was about 10 years old. Godfrey and I were school mates then. We played together at his home on the second floor of the DeWolf drug store on East Main Street. I also visited him when they moved to the Dykeman house (Quakenbush house then) at corners of Second and Cedar Avenues. Mr. John Kollauf bought a house at corner West State and Fourth Streets with several lots. Here the family lived until his parents death. Godfrey and his wife later erected two or three fine houses on the lots fronting on 5th Street. In the corner house Godfrey and his family lived until his death.

His first work was as a file cutter in the J.P. Doig File Factory. Later he worked at the Moline Malleable Iron Factory. His last occupation was as engineer at the City Power Plant.

He was a fellow neighbor in the Modern Woodman of America. He was a good friend and he will be greatly missed.
I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
