Still searching for descendants of THOMAS KOLB (sometimes given as CULP in records) & FRANCES M. MENEES. Following is info I have on this family. Frances Mastin Menees, d/o William Dawson Menees, Sr. & Henrietta Blackwell, was born 19 October 1816 in Tennessee. She married Thomas Kolb (or Culp) on 30 January 1835 by Wm. J. Wasden, J.P. in Lowndes Co., AL. While he is given as Culp in the marriage record and the 1850 Butler Co., AL census, in the 1860 census and probate records his surname as given as Kolb. Thomas Kolb was named as co-administrator for his father-in-law’s probate and single administrator after the death of his brother-in-law. He was also named as the administrator of William D. Menees, Jr.’s estate, though he was later cited by the court for leaving Lowndes for Butler without first notifying the court, and thereby endangering the security bond of Thomas Graves. Thomas was born c.1814 in South Carolina. According to probate records, Frances & Thomas Kolb later moved to Texas. They had issue: · F. Ann Kolb - c.1836 AL · Thomas Kolb - c.1838 AL · Amanda Kolb - c.1840 AL · Naomi Kolb - c.1842 AL · Andrew Kolb - c.1846 AL · R. Kolb (male) - c.1850 AL · C. Kolb (female) - c.1853 AL · J.A. Kolb (male) - c.1855 AL · M. Kolb (female) - c.1858 AL No other data exists for them at this time. Texas census records have proven inconclusive and a search of Alabama records is continuing. Two Jones children were living in the Kolb household in the 1860 census: G. Jones, age 10, and D. Jones, age 8. They may have been children of Arabella (Menees) Jones.
