Searching for information on Franz "Charles" Kohler. Franz "Charles" Kohler was born in Germany approximately Oct.1839. His fathers name was Sebastian Kohler and his mothers name was Mary Wangenblast. Charles was a coal miner in or around Belleville,Illinois in the late 1870's and possibly early 1880's. His SECOND marriage was to my g.g.grandmother, Maria Hug. In the 1870 census, Charles was living in Belleville Illinois with his wife Maria and his two stepchildren, Veronica and Lorenz Vetter. He later fathered three more children by the names...Frieda,Frank,Margaret.
According to Maria Kohlers death register,it list her as being a widow at the time of her death in 1885. If anyone can provide me with any information on Charles death or first marriage, please contact me. Charles second marriage took place in 1878, so his first would have been before this date. I believe his first marriage took place in the U.S. and not Germany.
