I have been attempting to gather information about my ggrandmother, on my father's side of the family. Her name is Katherine Kohl. I am not sure the Kohl you mention and mine are connected, but then I know very little. I think that my Kohl may have married into the Kohl family. I have some reason to believe that her husband was a Peter Kohl. I know that my Katie Kohl had at least one child, Myrtle Kohl, born in 1896. Peter and Katie were apparently divorced and in 1898 the child was awarded to Katie.
I also found information on a Kate Kohl, not sure if mine or another, who was born in Germany and in June of 1900, was a resident in St. Louis, Mo. The census report indicates she was born in 1864. I am trying to connect the two pieces of information to prove they are the same person. My grandmother, Myrtle Kohl, seems to have been, for reasons unknown to me, raised by a family with the last name Taylor. I also have family references to the name Rauer. If any of this sounds liike there might be a connection let me know.
