My Grandfather, Henry, came to this country in 1885. I have been unable to located the imigration records to see whether he came in as Kapke or Koepke. My Gmother came in a year later and she and her daughter were listed as Dorothea and Katherine Koepke on the imigration record. My father has confirmed that the name was aglicized to Kapke when they came to the US. He was a cigar maker. All the Kapkes in this line except my father were dead by 1925, and although Katherine left two boys, they know less than I do. Records that had been available where destroyed in WW1 such as my GF's discharge papers from the german army, marriage license, birth record and such. Family lore said that he had five brothers who originally settled in or around Missouri, and that they were in the candy making business. I have no idea what spelling these other brothers might have used. If anyone has any information I could use, I would appreciate anything you have. Thanks Dorothea Notify Administrator about this message?
