Hello, Clinton! I've read your postings over the last 3/4 days, but could not reply 'til now - July 5th, when I had to join Genealogy formum. I am from the Pittsburgh 'caln' of Koenig's, and have been stationed in United Kingdom, since, Dec 8, 1963. I was honorably discharged from USAF & went into business in UK. The name Koenig - translated loosely - means 'from-the-line-of-kings'. Meaning, most Koenig's (and derivatives of the name) fought or were employed directly or indirectly by the then king of Prussia. Prussia being the name used before the area was known/renamed Germany. Many of the king's soldiers - many were Koenig's or derivatives of the name - were 'stationed' on or near the 'Maginot Line ', the fortified line seperating Prussia & France. There is a lot more info I've found out since living in the UK. I was surprised how many English are familiar with the name 'Koenig'. I'm sure, Clinton, the above info doesn't realy help you with your enquiries, but I hope some of the background might help you to help further your enquires - - - possibly into the 'old-country'. All the best! From a "Displaced Pittsburgher since 1963!", I remain. John "Peanutz" Koenig, Banbury, Oxon KRS Notify Administrator about this message?
