Seeking any clues on John Anthony Koenig (or Anthony John Koenig), born ca 1878 in Missouri. He may have been born in St. Louis, as he lived there from about 1903 until his death in 1935.
He changed his name to William J. Smith about 1906, possibly to avoid prosecution for 'accidentally electrocuting someone'. His many jobs included a harness race horse jockey, bill clerk for a shoe store, and electrician for the Garrick and Tivoli theaters.
He married first Pansy Lawson in 1902 in St. Louis, and they had a daughter, Marie, born 1903. He divorced Pansy shortly after that, and married Ida Young about 1907. Their daughter, Mildred Smith, was born in 1912.
He never talked about his Koenig family, but on the 1910 census he stated both parents were born in Germany.
