In marriage book one of Davidson Co., TN is an entry for John B. Jackson to Jovis Koen on Feb. 21 1801. I know that this name has also been interpreted by some as Jarvis Koen. An examination of the original marriage bond at Metropolitan Government Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co. shows that the bride's name is not written as Jovis. The name is written as Lovis. It is very obvious that the name starts with the letter L, not the letter J. When John B. Jackson wrote his will he called his wife Lovey. On the 1820 census she is listed as Lovey Jackson. Has anyone seen an instance where her name was given as anything other than Lovey or Lovis that was not based on this mistaken entry into the marriage book?
